Community Update: Bee Hotels, Art Carnivals, Vintage Finds, and More!

Back to Stories

Our community garden next to the bus lane is buzzing with excitement – quite literally! We’ve installed two bee hotels, offering a safe haven for solitary bees. These artificial structures mimic natural nesting sites like wood holes and hollow plant stems. By providing these homes, we’re supporting the local bee population, which plays a crucial role in pollinating our plants and maintaining the health of our environment.

But that’s not all! We recently had the pleasure of supporting the Wild About Art Carnival. This vibrant event showcased stunning head dresses and hosted free family craft workshops. From 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, families dropped in and unleashed their creativity, making this a fun-filled and enriching experience for all ages.

Our community spirit doesn’t stop there. We’ve also welcomed the Vintage Emporium, the retail arm of the charity Refugees. This wonderful shop was born out of a heartfelt response to a powerful photo of refugees, inspiring a mission to support displaced individuals. The Vintage Emporium offers a diverse range of items, including vintage clothing and accessories, wooden furniture, homeware, and books. Each purchase helps fund the charity’s vital work, making shopping here a meaningful experience.

In an effort to enhance the ambiance of our mall, we’ve begun installing new artwork in various areas. We collaborated with a talented local artist to create pieces that resonate with Maidstone’s demographics. What makes this project even more special is the use of recycled materials, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and community relevance.

These initiatives are just a few examples of how we’re striving to enrich our community, support local causes, and create a vibrant, welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re visiting the bee hotels, participating in a craft workshop, browsing vintage treasures, or admiring new artwork, there’s always something exciting happening here.

Join us in celebrating these wonderful additions to our community. Your participation and support make all the difference as we continue to foster a vibrant, connected, and thriving Maidstone.
