Eco Hub with MBC: A Green Initiative for a Greener Maidstone

Back to Stories

We’re thrilled to share the success of our recent joint venture with MBC: the Eco Hub. This initiative aimed to educate and engage the Maidstone community in environmental conservation. Over its 17-day run, the Eco Hub proved to be a hub of activity and inspiration, drawing in 1,926 visitors—an impressive average of 113 people each day.

Here are some highlights that made the Eco Hub a standout success:

Volunteer Power: The Eco Hub was powered by 18 dedicated volunteers who generously contributed their time and effort to make this initiative a success.

Community Collaboration: We partnered with 24 local organizations, including businesses, charities, and community groups, all working together to promote environmental awareness.

Swap Shop Success: Our swap shop facilitated 78 swaps, allowing attendees to exchange items and reduce waste. Additionally, 66 items, including four pieces of furniture, were donated to MADM, supporting those in need.

Eco Hub Promise Tree: A total of 26 promises to protect the planet were made by visitors, showcasing the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Engaging Events: We hosted 17 events, including 10 craft workshops. These events were a hit, encouraging creativity and hands-on learning about sustainability.

Crafting for Nature: Visitors crafted 114 pinecone birdfeeders, 156 wildflower seed bombs, 32 mini bug hotels, and 60 bird feeders. These activities not only educated participants but also contributed to local wildlife support.

The Eco Hub was more than just a series of activities—it was a celebration of community spirit and a testament to the power of collective action in fostering a sustainable future. The enthusiasm and engagement we witnessed reaffirmed our belief in the importance of environmental education and community involvement.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who visited, volunteered, and partnered with us. Your participation made the Eco Hub a resounding success and a model for future initiatives. Together, we are making Maidstone a greener, more sustainable place to live.

Stay tuned for more eco-friendly events and initiatives, and let’s continue to work together to protect and preserve our environment. Thank you, Maidstone, for your unwavering support and dedication to a greener future!
