Free Parking at C&R Centres

Capital & Regional have today made their shopping centre car parks free of charge until further notice, in order to support key workers and those who need to use their cars to access essential services. In line with the government guidance the centre remains open to allow our guests and the local community to benefit from the essential services, which remain open to the public and for use by local key workers.

There will be no need to use the car park pay machines, a measure which reduces possible exposure to the virus while also helping to reduce some of the financial burden on key workers and guests during this difficult time.

This change to car parking measures is now in effect at all Capital & Regional shopping centres, namely: The Mall Blackburn, The Mall Maidstone, The Mall Luton, Exchange Ilford, The Marlowes Hemel Hempstead, The Mall Walthamstow and The Mall Wood Green.

Sara Jennings, Director of Guest & Customer Experience for Capital & Regional said:

“Our number one priority throughout this difficult time has been the health and safety of our people and our community. We continue to implement a number of preventative measures, which we have since the outbreak of COVID-19, including escalating the intensity and frequency of our cleaning procedures, providing instructional signage and encouraging all our visitors and staff to practice good hygiene with regular hand washing. This additional change will help those who have no choice but to use their cars, which is particularly important while we all practice social distancing and avoid public transport.

“We would also like to remind guests that this measure is designed to help those who have a real need to use the car parks. Everyone should be following the Government’s instructions to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, so that we can all get through this challenging time together safely.”
