New General Manager appointed at The Mall Walthamstow

Capital & Regional and The Mall Walthamstow team are excited to welcome Liz Hardy as the new General Manager at The Mall Walthamstow.

Liz started her new position in January 2021, bringing extensive retail experience developed over a 15-year career in results-driven retail management and commercial strategy.

Liz joins The Mall Walthamstow from her previous role as Commercial Manager at LLAOL, the company which operates London Luton Airport on behalf of airport operator, Aena and shareholder AMP Capital. Liz was responsible for commercial performance and account management of 68 business partners across the airport estate, operations and commercially led marketing campaigns.

Liz also brings an exceptional track record at some of London’s busiest flagship stores, including Debenhams on Oxford Street, where the team delivered 8% year on year growth, on turnover of £86m, while Liz provided senior leadership to a team of 1,400 staff. Previous roles include General Manager and multi-site management across central London for fashion retailers Hobbs, Monsoon Accessorize and All Saints, where Liz achieved company record breaking sales figures.

During her time working in London’s West End, Liz was also closely engaged with the local authority and BIDs, including New West End Company and Regent Street Association, to drive local initiatives, footfall and sales growth in the area.

Sara Jennings, Director of Guest & Customer Experience, Capital & Regional, said: “Liz joins the Mall Walthamstow team with a great deal of experience in retail management for some of the UK’s leading high-street brands. While running operations, Liz will also provide vision and leadership as we progress our wider plans to repurpose the centre. Liz is commercially minded with a strong-track record of delivering results, as well as successful stakeholder engagement campaigns, making her a great fit for the role.”

Liz Hardy, General Manager, said: “The Mall Walthamstow is a fantastic shopping centre and its position is ideal, connecting the historic market, town square, residential and transport. As an important hub for the local community, ensuring we continue to support by providing access to necessities during this difficult period will be the priority for my team. In the coming months, I hope to contribute some of my own experience to the centre’s rejuvenation, and to delivering long-term value for the area, in close partnership with the local authority, community groups, and all of our retail customers.”
