The Elifar Foundation annual Challenge sets new record

The Elifar Foundation's annual challenge has succeeded in raising over £60,000, almost double the amount that was raised through last year's event.

The Elifar Foundation is a charity run almost entirely by volunteers. It aims to help improve the quality of life mainly of profoundly disabled children and young adults, whether living at home or in residential care. Each year the charity invites members of the retail property industry to form a team of seven and demonstrate their physical and mental agility through a series of challenges.

This year's event took place on the grounds of the David Lloyd Centre in Greenford and 20 teams from the retail property world competed against each other. Capital & Regional's team were the victors, claiming the trophy for the second time in three years.

Duncan Kite, Co-Chairman of the Elifar Foundation Challenge, commented: "This year's event has exceeded all my expectations in terms of the funds that have been raised. I would like to thank everyone who participated on the day and gave so generously of their time and money. The money raised will be used to buy equipment and fund facilities for children and adults living with disabilities.

"I am already looking ahead to next year's Challenge and am confident we will enjoy another record breaking year. Hopefully we will see even more teams sign-up for next year's event and would encourage those interested to make contact soon."

Mark Bourgeois, Managing Director of Shopping Centres for Capital and Regional, added: "Capital & Regional is proud to support the Elifar Foundation in their efforts to raise vital funds for people with disabilities. The Elifar Challenge is always a great day out and I look forward to next year's competition and defending our title."
