Capital & Regional announces today that department store chain TJ Hughes is to open a new anchor store at The Mall Maidstone.

The retailer has signed a ten year lease to occupy 32,000 sq ft at the centre with a one level trading area of approximately 28,000 sq ft. Works to create the space are set to commence in March, with the store expected to open in September.

The deal with TJ Hughes completes as Capital & Regional advances their £5 million refurbishment of the Mall Maidstone.

The refurbishment, due to complete in Summer 2016, includes extensive works to re-model the centre’s main entrances on King Street and Gabriel’s Hill, and the installation of new flooring and a state of the art linear ceiling lighting system throughout the interior. The works to modernise the centre, originally built in 1976, also include a full refurbishment of the toilets and lifts.

Capital & Regional has agreed new leases with ten retailers since the works commenced, with negotiations ongoing for the remaining available space throughout The Mall.
